I’m Linda Christensen, a registered medical assistant, and I’ve been working at Dr Steury’s office since May of 2002. Prior to working for Dr. Steury I worked for a family practice in Greenville and for United Memorial Hospital’s clinic division. Before that some of you may remember that I was a freelance writer and a special sections writer for the Greenville Daily News! Currently my personal interests include reading, painting, stained glass and various other crafts. I enjoy golfing, gardening and most of all, traveling. I have also been actively involved with the American Cancer Society’s Montcalm Relay for Life for over 15 years and for the past four years I have been the team captain for the county 4-H Relay team that involved kids from several local 4-H clubs. My husband Larry and I have lived just outside of Sheridan for over 35 years now and have enjoyed all the remodeling and landscaping we have done together on our home. Larry, who retired from the County Road Commission in 2003, continues to love his hunting, fishing and woodworking. He is very talented and enjoys making beautiful wood cabinets, tables and shelves. He also loves to cook and is very good at it! Lucky for me he also does dishes! Our daughter Jessica, who currently lives in Lansing, graduated from Michigan State University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and a Bachelor of Science in Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology. After graduation she was accepted into Michigan State’s Veterinary Medicine degree where she is now a junior. She is interested in specializing in cardiology or soft tissue surgery. We are so very proud of her. Now that you’ve had a glimpse of my personal and family life, I’d like to share what I do at the office. As a registered medical assistant I take patients to their exam room where I do a basic assessment that includes history and vitals. In addition, I schedule tests and specialty appointments, request insurance authorizations and talk with patients regarding medical concerns, prescription requests and test results. I also give injections and remove sutures as well as other procedures when needed. Normally my work week consists of three days -- Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. During those days I enjoy working with Dr Steury and Elizabeth and know that the patients can tell from the friendly but professional way they are treated here at the office that everyone thoroughly enjoys their job and cares about providing the best of medical care to our patients. | |||||||||||
