Events, UCC Team Teens: Team Teens By Barb Steury 1/10/2002 |

One of Dr Steury's big enjoyments in life has been his role as youth director of Team Teens. Aside from the fact that they keep him "young" ;-) they are a constant source of inspiration to him. The First Congregational UCC Team Teens is comprised of all interested Senior High Youth members of our congregation...and the friends they enjoy sharing their Sunday evenings with. Our regular meetings are held in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday evenings from 6:30 PM to approximately 7:45 PM. We begin with dinner together where we share at least one good thing and one bad thing that has happened to us since our last time together. A team builder or two such as "Do you love your neighbor?" or "Human Croquet" allows us to get rid of some of our energy before we settle down to lessons that are presented in a variety of ways. Sometimes we have a spontaneous melodrama, watch and discuss movies, listen to the challenges brought to us in scripture, study the lyrics of Christian music artists, etc. We close our meetings in a circle prayer. In addition to our weekly meetings at the Fellowship Hall ( and sometimes in place of), we have other events that teach us about our journey in our faith. These activities have included concerts, 30 Hour Famine, or going to a movie together and discussing afterwards the message we can take from the films. There are also periodic parties at the Steury's or at the Fellowship Hall, usually tying in with a holiday or a special event. | |||||||||||||||||||
